HP Factory

A private automation tool, used by one person.

HP Factory runs software-delivery chores on its owner's own computer: it works through a queue of development tasks, runs the tests, and stops when a human decision is needed.

Why it asks for Gmail access

When it needs its owner, it files a note into that person's own mailbox and reads the reply. It is authorised for three things only:

• read messages, to find the owner's reply;
• read and manage labels, to file the note where the owner will see it;
• insert a message into the owner's own mailbox.

It cannot send email. The permission that would allow sending is deliberately not requested, so the tool is unable to mail anybody.

Who can use it

It is not a product and has no other users. There is no sign-up.
